Sacred Grove

The Sacred Grove is the secret level of the Shadow Wood, the second hub of Hexen. It can only be accessed when the hub's main puzzle has been completed.

The level contains a small round grove with several desiccated trees and a pillar in the middle.

Walkthrough and Secrets[]

The map is fairly simple, being a round area containing multiple Ettins and a large amount of Mana. After about a minute, more Ettins will begin teleporting into the map every 10 seconds or so. If this causes there to be more than 20 Ettins alive at any time, a message will appear saying "you've waited too long, now you die." When this message appears, Chaos Serpents begin spawning instead of Ettins, and the exit from the map closes. If this occurs, the player has no chance of victory, and will need to load a saved game.

However, if the player successfully kills all Ettins, leaving none alive, two things occur: firstly, several Combined Mana and Discs of Repulsion appear. Secondly, the center of the map lowers, revealing a switch. This switch is one of two triggers that unlock Desolate Garden.

The map also contains three Mystic Urns, hidden behind vines at the western, northern, and eastern edges of the map.
