The prosperity of Septimus has been overshadowed by War

Septimus is the fourth hub of Hexen II.

Overview[]

The hub takes place on the Greco-Roman continent of Septimus. Monster fights turn increasingly difficult as Archer Lords become a common enemy. The player's first task is to find some valuable treasure items, as gaining access to the bath house requires a donation.

Next, a few more puzzles have to be completed before the players can face War: one of the most fearsome opponents in the game and the last guardian before returning to Blackmarsh.

Trivia[]

  • The texture for signs and messages reads “MORTIS TE MANET CUM MAGNIS DENTIBUS ACUTIS”, which is Latin for “Death awaits thee with large, sharp teeth.”
  • The monochrome statues would have been slightly anachronistic in a more realistic setting, as Greco-Roman sculptures were normally polychrome when they were new.[1]
