06 - Inner Courtyard

The once thriving city has been claimed by Famine.

Blackmarsh is the first hub of Hexen II.


The hub takes place on the medieval continent of Blackmarsh. It begins with an easier puzzle, so that players can get used to the gameplay. Their first task is to find the Castle Key by solving a few simple tasks in the surrounding areas.

The second goal is to find and gain access to the hidden altar of the Brotherhood of Hunger, which conceals important clues. To do this, the player will have to follow a number of clues left behind by the city's former inhabitants, revealing some of their darker personal stories.

The final part of the puzzle is to find a way to defeat the indestructible Crystal Golem that lurks beneath the city. Only then will the player gain access to Famine's lair. Defeating the boss allows the player to advance to the next hub.
