Eidolon is an enemy encountered in Hexen II, the oldest and most powerful of the Serpent Riders, and the main antagonist of the game.
Whilst D'Sparil and Korax attacked and took control of Parthoris and Cronos, respectively, Eidolon took control of the world of Thyrion.
Background[]
“ | Eidolon’s power is immense, his grip on our world absolute. Some citizens believes his hellish reign must come to an end, and look to the improbable victories against D’Sparil and Korax for inspiration. But for most, the future is uncompromisingly bleak. Eidolon, the oldest and strongest of the Serpent Riders, is reputedly many times more powerful than his vile brethren. He is certainly aware of the weakness that led to the downfall of D’Sparil and Korax, and will do his best to guard himself against similar circumstances. Indeed, he has already taken such measures: in addition to his own troops, he has surrounded himself with the remnants of Korax and D’Sparil’s broken armies. The task at hand is formidable. Whoever challenges Eidolon must destroy his minions on all four continents, then challenge Eidolon himself within his ebon stronghold. The dangers are great, from beginning to end. The dank jungles of Mazera seethe with giant Scorpions and Spiders, while the pyramids of Thysis are replete with Mummies and dreaded Stone Golems. No less formidable are the horrors lurking in the ruined cities of Septimus, or behind the crenellated walls of Blackmarsh. Despite all the travails, there is yet another peril: the Four Horsemen’s of the Apocalypse, who serve Eidolon as generals. Each governs one of the four great nations, and each must be defeat to end Eidolon’s infernal domination. Cana any hero, however powerful, face all these perils and emerge victorious? Only time will tell. |

Attacks & Strategy[]
At first, Eidolon confronts the player by himself, but when the player proves to be worthy, the Serpent Rider calls upon the Chaos Sphere to increase his size three fold.
- First Form
In his first form, Eidolon will follow the player while launching balls of lightning that home and bounce towards the player. The key to defeating Eidolon's first form is to move as little as possible since he predicts player movements. If the player has saved up plenty of Tomes of Power and Kraters of Might, then this battle can be much easier.
- Attacks
- Eidolon launches around five balls of lightning that home and bounce towards the player.
- If you get close enough, Eidolon will use a repulsion disc
- Second Form
The key to fighting Eidolon now is the opposite: move as much as you can but keep an eye on Eidolon and avoid the center area as you can get killed instantly by lighting.
- Attacks
- Eidolon can stomp the player when walking.
- Eidolon launches a burst of fireballs towards the player. These projectiles move very quickly and hit for a lot of damage.
- If you get close to Eidolon he'll try to toast the player with hell-fire breath.
- Eidolon some times shoots red projectiles that morph the player into a sheep on impact.
- Eidolon's deadliest attack is to summon lighting that instant kills anything no matter how much HP the target has.
- Eidolon can regenerate as long as the Chaos Sphere is still around. These two are his most powerful spells and represent his control over life and death.
